DR. Randolph Maul
MD, FACEP
Nighthawk Ranch is so fortunate to have Dr. Randolph Maul on our Advisory Board and as its Medical Advisor. Dr. Maul is a Colorado native. He graduated from the University of Denver, and the University of Colorado Medical School. He is a board certified emergency physician, and served in the Air Force for twelve years as an emergency physician. He then spent twenty one years as a emergency physician for Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO. He is currently the Chief Medical Officer for the Department of Corrections.
He and his wife Shawn have a blended family of six children, and an adorable grandson. He has a third degree black belt in Kempo Karate, plays classical piano, and enjoys woodworking.
SHAWN MAUL
RN, ENPC, TNCC, EMT
Nighthawk Ranch Nursing Director
Because she loves children and any activity that involves the outdoors or horses, Shawn Maul is a perfect team member for Nighthawk Ranch. Shawn has worked in the medical field for over twenty years, twelve of which were as an EMT. She is currently an RN, certified in both adult and pediatric trauma (ENPC, TNCC).
Serving as the ranch’s Nursing Director, she assists with the review of each camper’s medical records and applications, camper intake interviews when the campers arrive at camp, setting the camp’s nursing procedures, and oversees the infirmary and the nursing staff for each camp session.
While living in Arizona, Shawn was a passionate environmental activist with several non-profit organizations such as The Center for Biological Diversity, the National Audubon Society, and Long Rivers, doing grassroots outreach, community education and awareness, and fundraising.

ELIZABETH C. DARLING
Elizabeth Darling is an attorney living in Loveland, Colorado. She has been involved with many non-profit organizations as a volunteer, including serving on the board of directors of a Loveland non-profit youth gardening organization. She is passionate about helping youth achieve their potential, landscaping, and growing organic vegetables and fruit. Having seen several family members dealing with the effects of cancer and its treatments, Elizabeth is committed to bettering the lives of cancer survivors.
Elizabeth concentrates her legal practice in commercial real estate and finance matters, general business law, and non-profit advice. Elizabeth is a past member of the Real Estate Section Council of the Colorado Bar Association and past Vice President of CREW-Denver (Commercial Real Estate Women), a 200 member organization of real estate professionals.
A Colorado native, Elizabeth received her B.A. in political science from Colorado State University in 1979, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and her J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1983, where she was a member of the Order of the Coif. She served as clerk for Justice William D. Neighbors of the Colorado Supreme Court from 1983 to 1984. Elizabeth has been listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” and has received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating awarded by that national rating directory.

Dr. DeWall practices as a Board-Certified Emergency Medicine physician at Penrose – St. Francis Hospitals in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He also is the Chief Executive Officer of Wilderness & Emergency Care Consulting, PLLC in Woodland Park, Colorado. Furthermore, he is the dedicated Medical Director for over 23 EMS services ranging from aeromedical services, EMS education services, tactical EMS services, and urban and wilderness services throughout the Pikes Peak Region.
